Supplementation of the Breastfed Newborn: When, Why, and How

This one-hour telehealth session will present common reasons why a breastfeeding newborn may need supplementation, how to identify when a breastfeeding newborn needs to be supplemented, and methods to achieve supplementation while preserving continued breastfeeding.

  1. Identify the risks of supplementation for the breastfeeding newborn
  2. Delineate the medical reasons for supplementation and how to recognize these indications
  3. Define the evidence-based best practices for supplementation of the breastfeeding newborn
