Message from Dr. Sophie Peterson, Board Chair (Sophie@breastfeedingnm.org)

Thank you to all members who participated in last month’s election. We had a record turnout which has given us valuable information about the direction our Task Force should take in the upcoming years.

Thank you to our past Chair, Lissa Knudsen, for her years of dedication and hard work, particularly for her work with our state legislature and our mothers behind bars. Her passion inspired changes that will have lasting impacts on our community.

As your Board Chair, I am excited and honored to work more directly with all NMBTF members. Together, we can continue collaboration between our medical communities and you, the community leaders promoting breastfeeding.

I promise to solicit your advice about areas that are not my expertise and to be a sounding board for you. Our Task Force is turning a corner towards increasing stability, endurance, and partnerships, so we can ensure every mother or parent has the opportunity to reach personal breastfeeding goals and together promote breastfeeding as a cultural norm in our state.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with concerns or suggestions. Thank you very much for the opportunity to work for all of you, I look forward to starting!
